Former football player and sports ministry veteran Norris Blount signed a book deal with True Potential last month.

I received his manuscript today. Loved it, loved it! Pure Norris Blount. If it crossed your mind that “Norris Blount” may sound just a bit like “Forrest Gump” you wouldn’t be far off track. The stories of both lives take some surprising turns. I think it’s going to be a big hit for the 2017 holiday season.
About Norris
Norris Blount has had a busy life. His father is pro football hall-of-fame legend Mel Blount. With that kind of pedigree, when Norris was old enough someone suggested that he try playing football. Norris did.
A coach put a football in his hand and said, “run!” Norris did.
And he was good at it. His football career took him through Baylor University and even to the NFL where he had a short stint with the Atlanta Falcons.

Norris loves football, but his life wasn’t to take the same path as his father. Norris has spent years in sports ministry at the college level and today he is founder and president of Excelsior Staffing, a human resources company based in Atlanta. Somewhere in there, Norris and his wife, Denitia, found time to be the subjects of an episode of the reality show “Fixer Upper” with Chip and Joanna Gains.
But his heart and ministry are still with athletes and coaches.
About the Book
Norris Blount’s book Winning Right: The Game of Life Playbook (working title), will be available in time for the 2017 holiday season.

(From the Introduction) “I’ve been hit in the head many times. There are days when things are cloudy and I don’t remember names, or dates, or what my wife wanted from the grocery store. Running a business, serving the Lord, being a husband, father, son, friend, playing a little tennis and enjoying an occasional nap keeps a man almost 50 quite busy. Life has been amazing. I go to bed early. I get up early. I walk. I pray. I eat fruit. I spend time with my beautiful wife, (I haven’t been hit in the head that many times!). I pray some more to thank God and study. I plan my day and work begins. It is 6 AM.”
(From Chapter One) “My skin is black… ummmhmmm, and it is AMERICAN BLACK. I typically wear a big Stetson cowboy hat like Walker Texas Ranger. My hair style is … shiny… or bald. I love my bald head, and at 6’2 “, 205 pounds, with my boots and hat, when I walk into a room people usually think I am with law enforcement. I am: God’s law.”
